THE FACTIONS & GROUPS OF ARABEL

City Government
Location: The Palace in West Arabel.

The residence and main seat of Arabellan government sits behind closed gates. The Palace is open to adventurers for special events and in times of dire emergency.

Lord Myrmeen Lhal: Cousin to the late King Azoun IV, Myrmeen Lhal, known as the Lady Lord, is the current ruler of recently reclaimed Arabel. She is a retired adventuress, a former ranger, but now handles the governing of the city, and is very protective of it's interests. She can often be found in the palace directly west of Central Arabel, discussing the state of affairs with her assistants. During the war, she lost her hand, but it was later restored by powerful magic.

Westar, Hearld of Arabel: Westar assists Myrmeen Lhal in the governing of the city. He handles countless duties, and is in charge of the day-to-day operations of governing the city. Westar has a reputation of being honest and trustworthy. When not working, he can occasionally be found in the Arabel library, enjoying a good book, or relaxing at the Pride of Arabel.

Public Information Office: (Central Arabel) Send messages to city and temple officials as well as herald announcements through the streets of Arabel (for a small fee) from the Public Information Office.

The Arabel Militia The militia handles most of the policing of Arabel proper, makes arrests and maintains peace inside the city walls.

The Purple Dragons Standing military of Cormyr and main martial force of the country.

The Purple Dragon Scouts

The War Wizards The most deadly unit in the army is the feared War Wizards, a unit of magicians recognizable by their black and purple robes.

The Nobility of Arabel

All of the following lords have lavish estates and keep a standing guard at all times. (William Thond, while not of noble birth, is the most successful merchant in Arabel and enjoys many of the benefits of being a noble.) Lord Lheskar Bhaliir Lord Mitchel DeSchurr Lord Rolo Fezznick William Thond

Temple of Chauntea

One of the larger Temples newly built for the surrounding farmers to pay tribute and pray for excellent harvests.

Leader: Gustan Hald is a priest of Chauntea. His temple caters to most of the middle class citizens who do not worship Tymora. He is a kind, gentle man, and those seeking godly assistance but are intimidated by the Lady's House often turn to his order of priests.

The Lady's House (temple of Tymora)

The largest of the Temples in Arabel and the location of Tymora’s avatar during the Time of Troubles. The Lady’s House has had much success in adding many new members into their flock thanks to her appearance.

Leader: Darmos Lauthyr is the leader of the most powerful religious organization in Arabel. The Lady's House is a large, extravagant temple dedicated to the worship of Tymora. During the Time of Troubles, Lady Luck's avatar appeared there and protected the city. Consequently, the temple and it's order have grown significantly. Darmos himself is rich and arrogant, and has demanded recognition for his accomplishments.

Knights of the Merciful Sword

Not a proper temple the Knights of the Merciful Sword are the only Paladin order in Arabel. While primarily known for their service to Tyr, the KotMS also allow the followers of Ilmater, Torm, Lathander, Helm, Siamorphe and the Red knight into their ranks.

Temple of Ilmater

A temple to serve the poor was created near where it was needed the most.

Shrine of Lathander

A small shrine was recently created to honor the Morning Lord.

Mystran Shrine

A shrine to the goddess of magic has been built where Paladins, Monks, and clerics of her order, as well as practitioners of the arcane arts may discuss the weave and offer tribute.

The Mages Guild

Located in the heart of Arabel, is a striking edifice rising far into the sky. Within its walls, members of the arcane guild within Arabel conduct experiments, research ancient lore, and maintain facilities for spellcasters to practice their trade, including potion-making and scroll-scribing services. The wizardess Illandrin, an elven mage of House Starym residing in Arabel, often subcontracts

research tasks to adventurers looking for coin, and the building itself has been used for many arcane purposes, such as mage's duels, informational meetings, and spellcaster councils.

On the lower levels, the Shrine of Mystra provides a spiritual haven for those who honor the Lady of Mysteries. Maintained by Xalantariyniya Sol Seeker and a Mystran Initiate, the Shrine boasts a small shop and training facilities for Mystrans.

The Thieves Guild

The Red Wizards & Thayan Knights

"The Red Wizards of Thay have come to Arabel. Though stories of us may precede us, know that we are here for the safety and trust of King Azoun V and for the greater benefit of all of Cormyr."
